Meanwhile In Longmont…

And now, for something completely different which has little to do with our usual faire:

The heavens opened over the last few days here in Longmont. When my work office closed down, I tried to drive to my home in the Southmoor park neighborhood. The main roads in town were so gridlocked (or closed, in some cases) that I had to drive to drive halfway to Boulder and double back from another angle.

As a point of comparison, a few days ago, this creek was maybe 3 feet deep and 10 feet across on average. When power lines started falling in and their transformers began to fry with a loud hiss, it was time for me to leave.

My thoughts go out to those who perished in this flood, and to those who are evacuated as a result.
